Backup, recovery and business continuity in Townsville

A backup only counts if you can restore it. We plan, monitor and test recovery so a failed server, a ransomware attack or a cyclone doesn’t stop your practice for long.

In short

Curity provides backup and business continuity for Townsville professional practices. We back up devices, servers and Microsoft 365, monitor every backup, respond when a job fails and test that data can actually be restored. We also help practices plan for North Queensland risks such as cyclones, floods and extended power or internet outages.

A backup only counts if you can restore it

Many practices find out their backups weren’t working on the day they need them. We measure backup success by recoverability: can we restore the right data, quickly enough, when it matters?

What we back up

Workstations where needed, servers, line-of-business data and Microsoft 365 email, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams.

How we monitor

Every backup is monitored. Failures create a ticket and we follow them through until the backup is healthy again.

How we test

We restore data to prove it works and record the result. How often we test is set out in each client’s agreement.

Planning for cyclones, floods and power loss in North Queensland

Townsville practices face risks that southern IT guides don’t mention. Continuity planning covers what happens if your office is closed, power is out for days or the internet is down.

  • Which systems are cloud-based and reachable from anywhere
  • How staff work from home or another site
  • How your phones divert if the office is closed
  • What needs shutting down and protecting before a cyclone
  • How quickly each critical system needs to be back, and the order we restore them

What recovery looks like on the day

  1. We confirm what has failed and what has been affected
  2. We agree priorities with your IT Champion
  3. We restore the most critical systems first and keep you updated
  4. We confirm with your staff that everything works
  5. We review what happened and what would make it faster next time

Questions about backup and recovery

How often should a small practice test its backups?

Often enough to be confident they work. Critical systems should be tested regularly, and after any significant change. For Curity clients, the testing schedule is agreed in your service agreement.

Is cloud storage like OneDrive the same as a backup?

No. OneDrive and SharePoint sync files, so deletions and ransomware can sync too. A separate backup keeps independent copies you can restore.
